ESSAY CONTEST RULES

Purpose

  • The main purpose of this contest is to heighten the awareness of the Hispanic culture and its many contributions to our community, state, and country.

Rules

All essays and applications must be:

  • Mailed to: Tampa Hispanic Heritage, Inc., c/o Ms. Maribel Garrett, P.O. Box 21152 Tampa, FL 33633 

  • You may also submit it via email to lcgmgarrett@gmail.com

  • 800 WORDS OR LESS

All applicants must be:​

  • In the 6th-12th grade

  • Tampa Bay area students, who can submit an essay independently without teacher approval

Judging

  • Entries will be judged by a panel of area educators and other prominent members of the community. The decisions of the judges will be final.

 

Promotional Release

  • Tampa Hispanic Heritage, Inc. (THHI) may publish or include essays and photos related to the Essay Contest on marketing materials and website.

 

Attention Teachers

  • In order to utilize the expertise of teachers in regard to good writing skills, each teacher is requested to review all student essays and select and submit the top three from each of their classes. In order to document the total number participating in the contest, please submit a note indicating the total number of essays received by students. The teacher of each winner will receive a cash award for classroom supplies and the schools with the most participation will also be recognized.
