Virtual Poster Contest Launches

Tampa, Fla. (August 17, 2020) – Tampa Hispanic Heritage, Inc. (THHI) is pleased to announce the 34th annual Poster Contest – and this year, we are going virtual! For the past 33 consecutive years, THHI has kept Hispanic Heritage alive in art through its annual poster contest by selecting the image that represents the Hispanic Community of Tampa Bay. The event is an opportunity for local artists of any ethnic group or race to honor and celebrate Tampa Bay’s rich Hispanic heritage.

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, we want to continue this tradition in the safest way possible. Normally, the artwork is judged by a group of prestigious judges from the arts arena across the Tampa Bay area.  However, this year we are excited to announce that we are putting the contest in the hands of our community.

“The Poster Contest has been a celebrated tradition throughout Tampa Bay for the past 33 years. The winning painting becomes the visual representation of our organization for an entire year. We are excited to keep this tradition going even during these unprecedented times by holding this year’s 34th annual Poster Contest virtually,” said Dr. Rafael Fuentes, president of Tampa Hispanic Heritage, Inc.

The community will have the opportunity to vote and select this year's Poster Contest winner. Starting today, on Monday, August 17, members of the community can cast votes online through our website for their favorite image at www.tampahispanic.org/poster-contest (LIMIT 1 VOTE PER DAY). The contest will run for three weeks, from Monday, August 17 – Sunday, September 6. The final day to vote is Sunday, September 6.

The artist of this year’s winning painting will receive community visibility and recognition by having their painting become the visual representation of Tampa Hispanic Heritage, Inc. for an entire year. We are not able to offer cash prizes this year due to the pandemic.

THHI has selected eight images for the contest. These images were the 2nd and 3rd place winners of the Poster Contest from 2016-2019. They are:

El Concurso Anual Virtual de Carteles se Lanzará Ahora

Tampa, Fla. (17 Agosto 2020) – Tampa Hispanic Heritage, Inc. (THHI) se complace en anunciar el 34º Concurso Anual de Carteles, ¡y este año, será virtual! Durante los últimos 33 años consecutivos, THHI ha mantenido viva la herencia Hispana en el arte a través de su concurso anual de carteles, seleccionando la imagen que representa a la comunidad Hispana de la Bahía de Tampa. El evento es una oportunidad para artistas locales de cualquier grupo étnico o raza para honrar y celebrar la rica herencia Hispana de la Bahía de Tampa.

Debido a la pandemia de COVID-19, queremos continuar esta tradición de la manera más segura posible. Normalmente, la obra de arte es juzgada por un grupo de prestigiosos jueces del área de las artes en la Bahía de Tampa. Sin embargo, este año nos complace anunciar que estamos poniendo el concurso en manos de nuestra comunidad.

“El concurso de carteles ha sido una tradición celebrada en la bahía de Tampa durante los últimos 33 años. La pintura ganadora se convierte en la representación visual de nuestra organización durante todo un año. Estamos entusiasmados por mantener esta tradición incluso durante estos tiempos sin precedentes al celebrar este año virtualmente el 34° Concurso Anual de Carteles", dijo el Dr. Rafael Fuentes, presidente de Tampa Hispanic Heritage, Inc.

La comunidad tendrá la oportunidad de votar y seleccionar al ganador del Concurso de Carteles de este año. A partir del lunes 17 de agosto, los miembros de la comunidad pueden votar en línea a través de nuestro sitio web por su imagen favorita en www.tampahispanic.org/poster-contest. (límite de 1 voto por día). El concurso tendrá una duración de tres semanas, del lunes 17 de agosto al domingo 6 de septiembre. El último día para votar es el domingo 6 de septiembre.

El artista con la pintura ganadora de este año recibirá visibilidad y reconocimiento de la comunidad al hacer que su obra se convierta en la representación visual de Tampa Hispanic Heritage, Inc. durante todo un año. Este año no podemos ofrecer premios en efectivo debido a la pandemia.
