Save the Date:  Our 2018 Kick-Off Celebration is Sunday, September 30

 

Tampa Hispanic Heritage, Inc. hosts the annual Kick-Off Celebration for National Hispanic Heritage Month by partnering with Telemundo 49 at their Telemundo Feria 49 event, held at the Florida State Fairgrounds. This is a free event for the community. THHI orchestrates the Cultural Ambassador Extravaganza, where Hispanic women are given the opportunity to compete by showcasing traditional dances of their native culture. Representatives of different countries, wearing distinct regional dresses, share their cultural traditions through many and varied expressions such as dances, story-telling, cooking, and other forms of entertainment. They put together a choreographed dance and compete to become the next "Tampa Hispanic Heritage Inc. Cultural Ambassador".

The criteria for election will include a written essay about their countries and cultural expressions. The cheers of attendants from different Hispanic countries, together with the cultural ambassador election and music, guarantee a lively atmosphere at this event. Also, during the Kick-off Celebration, the official Tampa Hispanic Heritage, Inc. posters are autographed by the winning artist and distributed free to the public. The winning cultural ambassadors will attend all THHI events and be an exemplary role model to the Hispanic youth. Telemundo Feria 49 is an event with family activities and entertainment. There are food vendors and many free items provided by sponsors. The event takes place at the Florida State Fairgrounds Expo Hall and attracts thousands of people.
